The Gombe Journal of Sociological Studies (GOJOSS), the official Journal of the Department of Sociology, Gombe State University which is both print and online invites scholars across the discipline to submit empirical or theoretical articles in areas related to Sociology, Administration, Political Science, Criminology and Security Studies, Economics, Defense and Strategic Studies, Development Studies, Gender Studies, Environment and International Relations and all other disciplines related to Sociology to be published in its maiden edition, volume 1 (1), January, 2025. 

General Guidelines

Authors are advised to adhere strictly to the following guidelines in preparing their manuscripts before submission.

  1. The paper must be original with fresh perspectives on the subject matter and must be written in English and typed double line spacing.
  2. The length of the paper should not exceed 6000 words (including references, tables and figures).
  • The paper should be written in Times New Roman with 12 font size.
  1. The American Psychological Association (APA) referencing style 7th edition should be used.
  2. An abstract of not more than 250 words with 5 keywords peculiar to the paper indicated below the abstract.
  3. A cover page which must include the title of the paper, full name of the author(s) institutional affiliation and email addresses of the author(s).
  • Acknowledgement where necessary of people, grants, fund e.t.c should be placed in a separate section before reference list.
  • Submitted papers should not have been published or under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  1. The deadline for submission of papers for volume 1 (issue 1) is 30th November, 2025 and expected date of publication is 31th January, 2026.
  2. Papers must be sent with evidence of N10,000 assessment and a publication fee of N15,000 will be paid upon acceptance of the paper to the Departmental Bank Account. Bank Name: Stanbic IBTC, Account Name: Department of Sociology-Gombe State University, Account Number: 0054932710.
  3. All papers should be submitted electronically as an MS word attachment to gombejournalofsociologicalstud@gmail.com.
