PERCEIVED EFFECTS OF STUDY HABITS ON ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT OF BUSINESS EDUCATION STUDENTS IN UNIVERSITY OF BENIN, BENIN CITY

Abstract

This study examined how business education students regarded their study habits in relation to their academic achievement. The objectives measured in this study are four Descriptive survey design was used in this study. The population of the study was 578 business education students in 100–400 levels for 2022/2023 academic session. The entire population was used for the study due to its manageable size, hence the census. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire which was validated by two business educators and a Psycometricia.  A pilot test involving twenty (20) business students from Ambross Alli University in Ekpoma who were not included in the sample were used to determine the instrument's reliability. Cronbach Alpha statistics was used to analyse the collected pilot test data, and the result was a reliability coefficient of 0.72. The data collected for the study were analysed using independent t-test to test the hypothesis at the 0.05 level of significance. Mean (  and standard deviation (SD) to answer the research questions. The study's conclusion showed that the study habits of University of Benin business education students have an influenc on their academic achievement. It was suggested, based on the findings, that educators should support students in developing effective study habits, since study habits of students have influence on their academic achievements.
