The study examine the effects of entrepreneurship development programmes instituted on political
thuggery in Kebbi State. Where data were collected using questionnaire administered to the
Officials and supporters of selected Political Parties, Youth and farmers groups and Officials of
Ministry of Sports and Youth Development as well as Ministry of Agriculture in Kebbi State. The
population is made up of 820 respondents, while Taro Yamane formula was used to determine the
sample size 269 and simple random sampling was applied to determine the number of respondents
from each category of respondents that made up the sample size. Chi-square was used to analyse the
data. The result showed that there is significant relationship between entrepreneurship development
programmes and political thuggery in Kebbi state. The study recommends that Kebbi State
Government’s established programmes such as Anchor Borrowers Programmes, Kebbi Agricultural
Transformation and Self-Help Initiative (KATASHI) and other Youth empowerment programmes
should be strengthened by giving them all the necessary supports needed to empower the identified
entrepreneurs in the State and encourage the youths to make entrepreneurship a priority.
